After months of hard work constructing the Grindleton Pavilion our efforts were rewarded with a place in the finals of the prestigious LABC Building Excellence Awards in the Best Community Building category.
We used all our expertise to breathe a new lease of life into the community facility. The new pavilion, which is situated on Sawley Road, comprises changing rooms, showers and the whole building benefits from under-floor heating run from sustainable renewable energy. Work was finished on the project last November.
Fund raising for the project began in August 2010 under the direction of the Grindleton Recreation Ground Charity and over £430,000 was raised in just two years.
The fund-raising campaign was led by retired GP Anne Huson, who commented: “We are delighted to be able to recommend John Moore & Sons Ltd. They were selected from a very competitive field to build our new pavilion and community hall in Grindleton. Building a community facility is quite an undertaking as there are many opinions and ideas about what is required and how the job should be done. John, Simon, Matthew and the team dealt with this very well and were able to guide us along a path that led to the completion of this outstanding building.”
The Grindleton Pavilion project, was nominated by Chris Shuttleworth, district surveyor for Ribble Valley Borough Council. He commented: “I was personally very pleased to nominate and see accepted through into the regional finals the Grindelton Pavilion project. I take this opportunity to congratulate the whole team in design, construction and the village community group for their tireless efforts in fund-raising. The awards are about quality, effort and attention to detail and they are all valid recipients of my nomination and indeed worthy winners in that respect. “
